Lucky #13: Vimala’s Curryblossom Café

Local chef and stalwart activist Vimala Rajendran (Indy profile) opened her new Curryblossom Cafe today.

Though Ellie, Elijah and I were her 13th customers, our luck was far from bad. Not a big surprise for anyone who has tasted Vimala’s take-home menu.

By 5:30pm the small restaurant was bustling with activity. The kitchen was full, the dining room was full – folks were spilling out into the courtyard.

I had the BBQ with plantains and both Ellie and Elijah had the Chicken Thali. All around an excellent meal.

Vimala’s is located at the Courtyard [MAP] in the old SandWhich location.

Congratulations Vimala!

Very cool. Erin and I are lucky to be having Vimala cater our wedding when we finally tie the knot in September.

Great choice Jason! I’m not sure if you’re to the point of picking out appetizers but the samosas and their dipping sauces were fantastic.

We’ll definitely try it, thanks for the tip. Tried twisted noodle yet in Eastgate? Awesome red curry & drunken noodles & pad thai & appetizers.

M, Elijah and I started to go there a few weeks after it opened but left when we saw the low health rating. I’ve heard they’ve whipped that beast since. I’ll definitely put it on our rotation.
