Hi Judy and Kumar

Thanks so much for the Monday and Tuesday night meetings on the traffic model and first pass model for Aura.  I learned a lot and heard a lot from my neighbors as well.

As a follow-up, I’d like to invite you both to a meeting we’ve arranged with local Estes Drive property owners next Tuesday April 6th at 4pm.  You’ll see my prior emails for explanation.  I’m happy to discuss with you ahead of time if that’s helpful.  Tim Carr from the YMCA, Roger Shumate from Amity UMC, Whit Rummal and Lucy Davis will all be in attendance so this will be a good time to hear about all of their future plans.  Karen Stegman helped us form the idea of bringing their group together and has graciously agreed to co-facilitate.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hello all
We have a quorum for the meeting proposed below and are confirmed for Tuesday April 6th at 4pm.

Here are the Zoom meeting details.  Please send along proposed agenda items you’d like to discuss.  I’ve included a draft agenda here in and will finalize this by Monday evening.  All feedback welcome.

Proposed Agenda:
  • Introductions: 1 minute each including your stake or interest in the Estes Drive corridor
  • Current situation on Estes Drive:  discussion of current development, what’s working and not working- 10 minutes
  • Future plans for your interest:  For your area of interest, what plans do you have for the next 12-36 months (or longer if not imminent) that would impact plans for Estes Drive - 15 minutes
  • Impacts to Aura proposal: how do your plans relate to the current proposal for the Aura project?  What works and doesn’t work for you? - 15 minutes
  • Ideal future state:  Making the assumption that development on Estes Drive is inevitable, what is your ideal future state? - 15 minutes
  • Wrap up and next steps: should we meet again to continue information sharing and solution exploration?

Brian Daniels is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Hello
A group of neighbors from the Somerset neighborhood in Chapel Hill have been meeting with town council members, property owners, the YMCA and Amity UMC to express our concerns about current proposed development on Estes Drive.  We have some ideas that we believe could better facilitate future development, but believe these solutions need to be thoroughly vetted with local stakeholders.  We’d like to meet as a group to discuss the issues at hand in hopes of finding some common ground from which we can build solutions together.

Would you please check your calendars for Tuesday April 6th at 4pm and let me know if you could be available for a 1 hour Zoom call?  We’ll circulate a proposed agenda ahead of time to ensure we are good stewards of your time.  Town Council member Karen Stegman has agreed to co-facilitate this discussion with me.  We will identify a member of town staff to help us with the conversation. We’re also trying to reach the owners of other to-be-developed parcels along Estes Drive.

Thanks in advance for your time.
